🛑 Prising Slots
Located around the edges of the manhole cover, these slots are used to lift the cover with a crowbar. Prising slots are particularly important for loosening the cover when debris accumulates between the cover and frame, making the removal process much easier.
🛑 Keyholes
Each manhole cover features at least two keyholes, providing access for special keys to lift the cover for inspection and maintenance. Keyholes come in two options: open keyholes, which act as vents, and closed keyholes, which seal the cover to prevent fumes from escaping and keep surface water and dirt from entering the manhole.
🛑 Register
The register ensures the correct, one-way fitting of the cover onto the frame, particularly after it has been removed for inspection and maintenance. It also prevents the cover from rotating and shifting out of position, securing it in place.

Markings cast on the covers are essential information that provides:
Standard Reference: The standard used in manufacturing the cover (e.g., BS EN 124).
Certification Body: A third-party certification (e.g., SASO, BSI Kitemark) to prove the product’s quality.
